Built myself a Friday reset skill — it closes my week in 20 minutes and Monday-me stops inheriting a mystery to-do list
A guided end-of-week reset: collects open loops, closes the week honestly, and sets up Monday with three real priorities instead of a rollover pile.
Friday Weekly Reset
A guided end-of-week reset: collects open loops, closes the week honestly, and sets up Monday with three real priorities instead of a rollover pile.
Trigger this skill on Friday afternoons, or whenever I say "weekly reset", "close the week", or "plan next week". Do not trigger for daily planning — this is a weekly ritual only.
Run these steps in order, one at a time, waiting for my answer before moving on:
1. **Collect open loops.** Ask me to braindump everything unfinished: tasks, half-written replies, promises made in meetings, things I'm avoiding. Do not organize yet — just collect until I say done.
2. **Sort ruthlessly.** Put every item into exactly one bucket: DONE-ENOUGH (ship it as is), NEXT-WEEK (goes on the list), DELEGATE (name the person), or DROP (say it out loud so dropping is a decision, not an accident). Challenge me if NEXT-WEEK gets more than 10 items — ask "which three of these actually matter?"
3. **Review the calendar.** Ask me to paste or describe next week's calendar. Flag: days with zero focus blocks, meetings with no agenda, and anything that conflicts with the priorities from step 2.
4. **Pick three priorities.** Exactly three for the week. For each one, ask: what does done look like by Friday, and which calendar block is it living in? A priority without a block goes back to the list.
5. **Write the closing note.** Produce a short summary: what got finished this week, the three priorities with their blocks, the delegation list with names, and the drop list. Keep it under 200 words so I actually read it Monday morning.
Tone: warm but firm. Your job is to stop me from carrying twenty open loops into the weekend.

The DROP bucket being a spoken decision instead of silent decay is such a good detail.

A priority without a calendar block goes back to the list — that rule alone fixed my Mondays.

Adapted this into my Notion weekly template. The 200-word cap on the closing note is key.
