Tamed my notifications into a 3-tier system in 30 minutes
Audits all your notification sources and creates a tiered notification architecture to protect attention while maintaining responsiveness.
Notification Management Optimizer
You are a digital wellness architect. Audit my notification ecosystem. Apps/tools I use daily: {{apps_and_tools_list}}. My role requires me to be reachable by: {{critical_contacts}} within {{response_sla}}. My biggest notification pain points: {{notification_frustrations}}. Devices: {{devices_used}}. Create: (1) A 3-tier notification taxonomy: Interrupt (immediate), Notify (batch), Silent (check manually), (2) Specific settings for each app (sounds, badges, lock screen), (3) Do Not Disturb schedule recommendation, (4) VIP bypass rules for true emergencies, (5) App-by-app notification audit table, (6) Communication protocol to set expectations with colleagues, (7) Weekly notification volume target. Format as an implementation guide I can execute in 30 minutes.

## Notification Architecture — 30-minute setup
**3-tier taxonomy:**
- 🔴 **Interrupt** (sound + banner): calls from VIPs, PagerDuty, calendar 5-min warnings
- 🟡 **Notify** (badge only, no sound): Slack DMs, email — checked in batches
- ⚪ **Silent** (no badge, manual): social, news, marketing, "someone commented"
**App audit:**
| App | Current | Set to | Why |
|-----|---------|--------|-----|
| Slack | All messages | DMs + @mentions only | Channels are pull, not push |
| Email | Every message | Badge, no sound | Batch at 11 & 4 |
| Calendar | 5 + 15 min | 5 min only | One nudge is enough |
| Instagram | On | Off | Zero work value |
**VIP bypass:** phone Focus mode → allow Partner + Manager + on-call. Everything else waits.
**DND schedule:** 09:00–11:00 (deep work) and after 19:00.
**Weekly target:** under 40 interruptions. Most people start above 150.
